Feinstein Foundation's $1 Million Giveaway To Fight Hunger

IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN...ALAN SHAWN FEINSTEIN CHALLENGES HUTCHINSON COUNTY TO GIVE FOOD & FUNDS TO LIVING WATER DURING THE MONTHS OF MARCH & APRIL AND SEE HOW MUCH YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY!!

Alan Shawn Feinstein
37 Alhambra Circle
Cranston, RI 02905

Please use MY money to help
 your neighbors in need!

My name is Alan Shawn Feinstein. For the past 16 years, I have been giving away $1
million each year to anti-hunger agencies throughout the country.

This year, I am doing it again…

WHATEVER YOU DONATE TO THIS AGENCY,
I WILL ADD MONEY TO IT. THE MORE
YOU GIVE, THE MORE OF MY $1 MILLION
THEY’LL GET—THANKS TO YOU!

Why am I doing this? Because I believe each of us was put here on earth to do
what we can to help those in need. You got this letter because we feel that YOU
believe that, too.

My money started this campaign but it is YOU who will help decide how many
needy people in your city or town will be fed this year.

This has become the greatest grass roots campaign ever to fight hunger in our
country. Your donation makes you a partner in it with me!

 We Are Needed Now!

Please give whatever you can - I gladly add my money to yours.
(My $1 million will be divided proportionately in full among
the agencies receiving donations from my offer.)

Thank you for sharing my heart, and the hope that—someday—no one will ever go
hungry.
Sincerely Yours,

 Alan Shawn Feinstein
P.S. All that will matter to us someday is what we did while we were here to help those in
need.

Living Water Volunteers are AWESOME!!!

Winter Time Can Be Such a Head Ache!!

With all the snow that has been falling...and all the sidewalk salt that is being scattered....a mess had taken over our floor in the Big Chapel Room at Living Water.  But...wait for it....some of our volunteers swept and mopped the entire room, and now it not only looks AMAZING, it smells great too!!!
Thank you Rick & James

Our volunteers are so important to us at Living Water.  We have a special woman who keeps the building clean & tidy on a weekly basis.  Why?  Because she is a Godly woman who is a servant, and wants to give back to her community and be a light to others.  We appreciate Michelle so much!!!

The clothing volunteers put in so many hours per week making sure that everything is hung up and organized to perfection.  Zella, Essela, Carol & Sharon, and Sandra & Janice all make our clothing ministry excellent for our clients and we are so glad they have hearts to serve!

Thank You to all of our volunteers that help on truck days and on Fridays.  Can you imagine me and Hayley unloading the truck and everything associated with that by ourselves? LOL...what a mess....I thank God that we have such wonderful people that contribute their time to this ministry.  People like Cairl, Rick, Roger, James, Gib, Micah, David, Betty, Gracie, Lydia, Shirley, Clarence, LaNelle, Janice, Sandra, Phyllis, and Burton.  Thanks Guys & Gals!!!!

So from the bottom of our hearts....we at Living Water appreciate everything our volunteers do...(even doing a face plant in the snow)...

You Are Loved & Appreciated!!

It is RICK'S Birthday!!!

Today is Rick's birthday.  He volunteers at Living Water practically every day.  I am so glad that he is willing to be here and put so much time in with our Food Program.

Rick usually hides when I bring out the camera so I have to be sneaky when I am trying to get a good shot.  This is what I usually get:

AND.......THIS:

It's a New Year

Well I guess everyone could say it is about time you guys updated the blog...LOL.  I apologize, but couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to log in.  Now that all that is figured out and I felt really dumb, I can get this caught up.

We had a great 2013, which was my first year as Executive Director.  I love this position, and I love coming in to work each day.  Being a leader isn't always easy, but I am so glad I am never on my own.  The Lord has His hand covering this place as He continuously provides for every need we have here.  This is  what happened in 2013:

INDIVIDUAL WALK IN REQUESTS OF VARIOUS NATURE:   368
SPECIFIC REQUESTS FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:  246
INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE:   146
TOTAL NUMBER OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE GIVEN: 210
INDIVIDUAL FAMILIES GIVEN FOOD ASSISTANCE:  335
TOTAL NUMBER OF FOOD ASSISTANCE GIVEN:   1635
TOTAL NUMBER OF CLOTHING ASSISTANCE:      1877
INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING GASOLINE ASSISTANCE:  60
HOLIDAY MEALS (THANKSGIVING & CHRISTMAS):  175
PROVIDED TEACHERS WITH SCHOOL SUPPLIES: 191
LIFE SKILLS EDUCATION CLASSES:                          18

So you can see that a lot of people have come through our doors!  I love that we can build relationships with our clients and truly meet them wherever they are "in life" and let them know that there is hope for them in Christ.

The first great news of 2014 is that we have a new Administrative Assistant.  This is Hayley Lowery.  She is a college student attending WTAMU.  She has a heart for missions and serves in several ministries at Fellowship Baptist Church.  She also recently became engaged to Nathan Schraeder.  Yes, I can post a pic of the ring!!!

I am very excited about all the things God is going to do this year at Living Water.  We have so many wonderful opportunities to share the love of Christ with our clients.  Would you pray for us?

Changes at Living Water

We will be experiencing some changes at Living Water in the near future.  Our Executive Director, Becky Dietz, is stepping down from her position December 31, 2012.  She has served in that position since March 1, 2007.   Becky has been training Selena for the past two years with this end in sight--believing Selena is the person to take Living Water to the next level.  Becky intends to do ministry in her church and play with her grandkids.
Becky Dietz

Selena McClellan has served in the position of Assistant Director since January 21, 2011.  She will be assuming the position of Executive Director January 1, 2013.
Selena McClellan

Cindy Torio has been a long-time volunteer at Living Water.  She will be assuming position of Administrative Assistant January 1, 2013.

We're very excited about the changes which are to come to Living Water in the very near future!  We know the quality of service to our clients will only improve.

Youngest to the Oldest

Today we realized we had the youngest and the oldest volunteer for our Thursday Food Distribution here with us. On the left is Dominic Snyder who is 8 years old and comes here almost every week with his grandfather to help us.  Gracie Boyett will be 87 years old this week (Happy Birthday, Gracie!  She told us she doesn't mind sharing her age...) and can work circles around our younger volunteers.  We couldn't do it without them.  Thank you for your help each week, Dominic & Gracie!
