Photos of Preachers & Singers

We've been BLESSED with a host and variety of preachers and singers for our chapel services at Living Water these past 10 years.  There have been so many more than these pictured---and they've each blessed us!  A big thank you to each of them.

The Life of Living Water
Around 1999, Andy Dietz presented an idea to the deacons of First Baptist Church.  Andy was the minister over the benevolence of the church at the time and was concerned that people were going from church-to-church to get the assistance they needed.  So he presented the idea of opening a ministry sponsored by the churches in Borger where people could go to one place to get assistance.  It would be a place where people could be helped with food and clothing and financial assistance—and hopefully be sponsored by many churches in our community.  Then when people came to the churches, they could direct them to this ministry.
Conny Moore took up the challenge of making it happen.  Under his direction, Living Water Ministries, Inc. was birthed in September 2002.  Many people became involved.  The building was donated by Maxine Stuller at 4th & Main which would become the site of the new ministry.  Many men from First Baptist Church spent lots of hours transforming the building to make it usable.  Vonna Humphries became the first Executive Director of Living Water.  She continued in that position for 5 critical years.  Vonna was assisted by volunteers in the office who helped clients with utility and financial needs.  Dru Grogan, former manager of United Supermarkets, had just retired and became the manager of the food ministry of Living Water.  Under his able direction, he ordered, organized and helped us learn how to distribute food to clients.  Several women started the clothing room ministry—sorting and displaying clothing so people could have a “shopping experience” when they came.
Other churches quickly became involved with Living Water.  The churches which have been involved at one time or another include First Baptist Church, Keeler Baptist Church, Fairlanes Baptist Church, Cornerstone Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, Grace Fellowship, Riverview Baptist Church, Bunavista Baptist Church, Faith Covenant, Fortress Baptist Church, Borger Missionary Baptist Church and Celebration Family Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of First Baptist Stinnett.  Some have been involved since the early beginnings of Living Water and some came on later.  All of these churches have been necessary to the sustainability of the ministry.
In 2006, Conny Moore applied for United Way funds—and began Living Water’s involvement with them.  Since then, Living Water has received funds from United Way for Food Distribution, School Supplies, Utility Bill Assistance, among other things.  Then in March of 2007, Becky Dietz became the Executive Director of Living Water and has been the Director to date.  In January of 2011, Selena McClellan was hired as the Assistant Director and has served in that capacity since.  Most importantly, Living Water is powered by its volunteers.  It wouldn’t survive without the dozens of volunteers who help with each of the ministries .
The ministries that Living Water is involved in today includes Utility Bill Assistance, Food Assistance, Clothing Assistance, School Supplies for Teachers, and Christmas Toys for Children.
Living Water would love for you to attend their 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY this Sunday, September 23 at 4th & Main from 2-4 p.m.

Last few days to help

Food Recipients at Living Water
(posted with permission)

There are only three more days to give to Living Water in the Feinstein Foundation Challenge!  Living Water will be open today until 3, Friday from 9-noon, and next Monday from 9-3.  If you've wanted to give to Living Water, this is the perfect opportunity!  What you give will help us get a percentage of the million dollars Alan Feinstein and his foundation are giving away to food agencies to alleviate hunger in America.  I wanted you to see some of the faces this ministry helps.  (This is only a small percentage of our clients that day--the ones who were willing to have their photo taken.)  It's not about the money---but about the people being helped.  Most of our clients are trying so hard to make it.  They don't want to be in the circumstances they're in.  And we're helping.  We help with food, clothing, utility bill assistance and now we're offering Life Skill Classes which will help them in financial training, cooking, job interviews, nutrition, and exercise.

If you don't think it happens in our country, read what a friend posted on Facebook today:
"Just bought groceries at Braum's. Saw a homeless man eating leaves from a tree. So sad. We bought him two breakfast burritos and had a server give it to him with our compliments. We waved. He waved. Food for thought. Lots of people without."

It IS happening here.  And it only takes one crisis for any of us to be in the same position.  So...if you're in a position to help, please consider giving.  Living Water is trying to make a difference in our community!

Last Week!!

This is the last week of our push for the Alan Feinstein Foundation donations.  Whatever is given to Living Water during the months of March & April will determine the percentage we receive of the million dollars this foundation is giving to help alleviate hunger in America.

If you bring a can of food, it is the same as donating $1.  But if you bring $1, it will buy 6.25 pounds of food!

Please consider donating to Living Water before April 30!

NOTICE

Living Water Ministries, High Plains Helping Hand and Salvation Army of Borger all met today. With the intention of streamlining and compartmentalizing our services so we're not duplicating what we do, we've made a decision which will affect the clients of Hutchinson County. As of today, we have divided the way we will be paying utility bills.

Living Water will only help with water bills.
High Plains Helping Hand will only help with electric bills.
Salvation Army will only help with gas bills.

And, of course, we each have our own policies in how we help, so you'll need to check with each agency to know what those policies are.

Feinstein Foundation Bucks!

It's that time again! Beginning March 1 and continuing through April 30, any money given to Living Water will qualify us for funds from The Alan Feinstein Foundation. We've received a percentage of the $1 million given by them to agencies fighting hunger for the past 2 years. And we hope to receive even more this year.

Here's what you do.
  • You can donate money to Living Water.
  • Or you can donate food to Living Water. The food will benefit our clients and it will be valued at $1 per item or $1 per pound. WOW! What a deal. It's actually a gift that gives twice--food for us and money from The Feinstein Foundation!

So...starting next Thursday, please consider giving generously to Living Water. Your participation will help us gain a larger percentage from this foundation.

THANK YOU!!

We're located at 4th & Main in Borger, TX.
